Jennifer Garner

While doing summer stock in Atlanta, Georgia a few years back, Jennifer Garner approached a veteran New York actress for career advice. "She told me to forget acting and go get a paralegal degree," recalls Garner. "I wanted to kung-fu her and take her down." The success of "Alias," which she garnered after work on shows like "Law and Order" and "Felicity" allows her to indulge in taking down whomever gets in her way.

It was on the set of "Felicity" that Garner met co-star and soon to be ex-husband Scott Foley. Garner separated from her husband of three years recently. She filed for divorce citing Irreconcible differences in the standard issue petition. Busier than ever, Garner will replace Gwyneth Paltrow in the indie feature Happy Ending, set to shoot this summer in Los Angeles. Garner's Daredevil spin-off movie is set to begin filming in 2004, during the star's hiatus from her hit TV show "Alias".

The $43 million debut of Daredevil in America have movie bosses talking about a spin-off for Garner's heroine Elektra. After making out with Ben Affleck and then beating him up in the film, it looks like her high-voltage character might get a film of her own. Garner is also in talks to star in Revolution Studio's 13 Going on 30, for which she'd earn $3 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film, described as a female Big, is about a gawky adolescent who is transformed into a popular, full-grown adult babe. Garner would shoot the film next year.

Then comes the big one: in a career coup, Franco won a coveted lead in next year's hotly anticipated Spider-Man, which stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Franco will play Harry Osborn, Peter Parker's best pal and the pampered but unloved son of the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe). "This is the biggest thing I've done," the actor says with understandable excitement. "It's the biggest thing any of us [the cast] has done." Since he seems so poised for Hollywood success, it's surprising to note that Franco's first love is not acting, but painting. Though he's made more headway in his Hollywood pursuits, his painting skills have come in handy. He won over his current girlfriend, "The Practice"'s Marla Sokoloff, by presenting her with an original rendering of Venus.
