5 Minutes with Kid Rock by Movieline magazine There haven't been many break-out rock stars in the past year like Kid Rock. Born Bob Ritchie in Romeo, Michigan, Kid has been cited by critics as the musician who's led the rap/rock upsurge with Devil Without a Cause, which has sold more than four million copies. But Kid is no new kid in town. Ten years ago he released the old-school rap Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast and toured with Ice Cube. Earlier this year, he appeared on the soundtrack to the wrestling movie Ready to Rumble. He'll make his feature film debut next year in Joe Dirt. Movieline: If you could meet and hang with any movie star, living or dead, who would it be? Kid Rock: Mmmmm. Heather Graham. I was supposed to meet her in L.A. when I played there last time but she couldn't make it. Movieline: Why Heather Graham? Kid Rock: You really gotta ask? Movieline: Which teen actress do you like? Kid Rock: Who was that chick from The Professional? Natalie Portman? She's hot. Movieline: Do you have a favorite soundtrack of all time? Kid Rock: Mmmmm, that's tough. I liked Grease. I also really liked Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction. Movieline: What was the last great movie you saw? Kid Rock: Depends what you mean by great. I saw End of Days which I really enjoyed, but I don't think people would call it great. Movieline: What movies do you always take on the road? Kid Rock: Forrest Gump, Tombstone, my Eastwood collection. PAGE 1 | 2 |

Movieline: What's your favorite Eastwood movie? Kid Rock:High Plains Drifter. Movieline: Least favorite? Kid Rock: I don't do those orangutan movies. Movieline: Have you ever uttered the words, "You laughing at me? You think I'm funny?" Kid Rock: Yes. I also say, "Go get the shine box." Movieline: I keep hearing your name mentioned for film roles. Kid Rock: I've been offered about 15 different roles already, but none of them were for me. I've even been asked to develop sitcoms. Movieline: What kind of roles would you like to do? Kid Rock: It would have to be something close to who I am. Something flashy, dirty or greasy. Maybe a Vegas swinger or a gas station attendant. Movieline: Which movies would you have liked to have acted in? Kid Rock: Something like Sling Blade. I could've done that Dwight Yoakam part pretty good. Movieline: Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst recently said he wanted to direct. Do you have any plans to get behind the camera? Kid Rock: I got a lot more music inside me that I need to get out. Besides, I think directing movies should be left to people who direct movies. Movieline: Is the real you Kid Rock or Bob Ritchie? Kid Rock: You are who you are. I'm Kid Rock but I'm also Bob Ritchie.
