A League of Their Own by Stephen Farber A League of Their Own doesn't have a single surprising moment. Every heart-tugging dramatic epiphany in the Lowell Ganz-Babaloo Mandel script seems utterly predictable. Then why is this movie so much more entertaining than it has any right to be? First of all, the subject of women's baseball during the Second World War is so fresh and vibrant that it transcends a plethora of cornball plot developments; in addition, Penny Marshall works sympathetically with the enormously likable actresses.
