Alice and Martin by Stephen Farber Juliette Binoche has a rewarding role in Alice and Martin, about a woman's love affair with a younger man (played by a strikingly handsome newcomer, Alexis Loret) struggling to overcome a traumatic childhood. Andre Techine directs in a dynamic style that may surprise audiences accustomed to more languorous French films. Though the plot depends too much upon Freudian baggage, the movie is so powerfully performed that you don't question the simplistic psychology while you're under the actors' spell.
