Beijing Bicycle by Stephen Farber Beijing Bicycle stirs memories of Vittorio De Sica's 1947 film, The Bicycle Thief. Like that neorealist classic, this Chinese film is a humane and tender chronicle of the lives of desperate people. A delivery boy from the provinces (Cui Lin, pictured) sees his livelihood threatened when his bicycle is stolen. Another boy finds the bike, and to him it is an equally important status symbol. Both characters are ferociously strong-willed, and their tense relationship comprises the heart of the drama, which is austere and unforgettable. What did you think of this movie?
